Your first stop in this city must be the Red Square, located in the Kitay-górod neighbouhood, famous for its malls and shopping centres.

It is 330m long and 70m wide, and it was declarated World's Heritage Monument in 1990 by the UNESCO. This square separates Kremlin, the actual home from the Russian president, and Kitay-górod.

The Red Square is next to Saint's Basilio's Cathedral, the iconic image of the city. We all have seen this cathedral in TV, maybe in a film, a videoclip or in the news, almost once in our lives, and we probably know where it is if a picture of this church is shown to us.

Yes, of course we recognise the place, but, what we know about it? It was built in 1554 by order of the zar Ivan the Terrible. It was enlarged in some ocasions after that date. There are some legends which say that the architects of the cathedral were some italian architects invited by the zar, but the most common story is that the architect was Póstnik Yákovlev.

This cathedral have been near to disappear quite a few times in history. It has survived fires, the troops of Napoleon and a demolition plan by Stanlin and his collaborators, who though that San Basilio's cathedral didn't leave enough space for the parades.

Some other places you shouldn't miss are the GUM shopping mall, if you like shopping or architecture(it looks awesome!), Lenin's tomb, Kremlin gunroom museum, Kremlin's Great Palace, Moscow Hermitage Garden, the Moskvarium(amazing zoo)...

If you like modern art, you have to visit the Garage Museum of Contemporary art, which has hundreds of portraits, different expositions and tens of Contemporary artists.

If you enjoy other type of art, visit Bolshói Theatre, where you can find many plays, ballets and concerts.

See you there!

DESTINATION PLACE: El Cairo

Welcome to El Cairo!

This time we are going to visit the capital city of egypt, in north Africa. This city is famous because of the desert, the hot weather, and of course, because the egypcian culture, 5.000 years old.

While you are in the plane landing on egypt, you could see in the skyline the pyramids, for example the 3 famous temples located in Guiza. These pyramids are one of the seven wonders from the old world, and the only one which is still standing.
Resultado de imagen de Pirámides de GizaThese necropolis has 3 main pyramids are called Keops, Kefren and Micerinos. The most incredible one is the Keops' pyramid. This pyramid show the great knowlegdge thaat the egypician people had about architecture, maths and crafts thousands of years ago.

The second pyramid is Jafra, more known as Kefrén. Due to an optical effect, this piramid looks bigger than the one which belongos to his father, Keops. In Ancient times, this pyramid was called the grat pyramid. It looks bigger because it is located in a higher place of the plateau. Also, this one presents more inclinated angles in its faces than the Keops' pyramid. this angle was used in some other pyramids later in time.

Nowadays, the pyramid of Kefren is higher than the Keops' pyramid, because the top of this one has been deteriorated over the years.

The third pyramid is Micerinos' pyramid. It is located in one of the sides of the Guiza's plateau, and it is the smallest one.

In this enormus complex, there are three small pyramids more, which Keops made built them. They were supposed to keep the mummies of the queens.

This was Guiza, but what about El Cairo?

El Cairo is the capital city of Egypt, and it is one of the cultural and touristic centres of Egypt. Tourists usually sleep in this city and travel during their holidays to other Egyptian cities, such as Luxor or Guiza. They also always visit the Kings' Valley, a valley full of tombs of ancient faraons.

This valley is also full of grave robbers, who search for tombs which are not been discovered yet. But enjoy your trip and do not worry about them!

In El Cairo city you should visit the Egyptian national museum, the Tower of El Cairo, Abdin's palace, the Islamic art museum, and, if you want a bit of fun, the Pharaonic Village theme park.

Enjoy Egypt, my friends!

DESTINATION PLACE: Aguilar de Campoo

Welcome to birthplace of the blog!

This blog started as an activity for my TIC lessons, in a high school located in Aguilar de Campoo, Palencia, the north of Spain.

So, I have to talk about this beautiful village (or town, as you want). It is a quiet place (or that's what their inhabitants say...), where there are thousands of incredible places to visit. Maybe it has not 7 stars hotels as Dubai, or a 13m tall letters like Hollywood, but I am completely sure that it worth to visit Aguilar de Campoo.

It has around 7.000 inhabitants, and it is located down the mountains called Montaña Palentina, in the Cantabric mountain range. With two schools and a biscuits factory, the town has a bit of night life on weekends.

The ruins of a castle presidethe town from the top of a hill, and in the hillside of the mountain, you can find a small church called Santa Cecilia. The main church of the town is located in the main square and its name is San Miguel.

The main square is always full of people, especially children in the hotest afternoons of the year, playing football and running around the square. There are also terraces from bars in summer, where you can sit and relax while you see the people running from one place to another, been always busy.

On Tuesday morning you can walk between the market stands. Here, you can find different types of food, such as garlic, ham, chorizo, fish, meet and candy stands too. Food, clothes, pans and kitchen utensils, books, magazines, antique objects and lots of many other different and weird things are sold in the market every Tuesday morning.

If you don't like cold weather and snow, don't come to Aguilar on winter, because winters are cold and wet, usually with snow in the mountains surrounding the valley. Summer is a great time to visit the town. You can go to the reservoir's beach to swim, sumnbathe and relax, walk in the forest or sleep in the camping near to the beach. The reservoir is also an incredible place to have lunch, a picnin on the sand or in the picnic area next to it or in one of the three restaurants.

See you in Aguilar!
